My first official races

I started running recently. It was either in February or March of 2019. After reading this, how could I not? Today marks my second “official” race.

Last week, 9/06/2019, I did my first 10k (10 km), in 55 minutes, which means that I ran at an average pace of 5.5 min/km, which is not too bad for my first 10k. I could’ve ran slightly faster though. Sadly, I did not wear my heart rate monitor (HRM, this one).

Today (16/06/2019) I ran my first trail, a 12 km one (“Trail das Eiras” is its name). This time, however, I did wear my HRM. Below is proof that I have the heart of a 200 year old.

The start-time was at around the 9h15m mark (1 min after the mark or so). I finished before the 11h mark. The average heart rate, considering the whole graph, is 165 bpm and the max was 191 bpm. My official time should be made available sometime this week. I’ll update this post with that info as soon as possible.

It was fun. On the not so bright side, my knee (and the inner arch of the right foot!) is bothering me. Hopefully it is not too serious, but trail running is much harder on the joints than road running. Also, I inhaled so much dirt. I will probably wear some kind of mask next time.
